About
the Chef
Born and raised in Sweden and today a US citizen,
executive chef and restaurateur Conny Andersson
is a 30-year veteran of the food and beverage
business. He began his career as an apprentice
sous-chef de cuisine aboard a luxury passenger
liner sailing out of Gothenburg, Sweden. After
honing his skills and paying his dues in elite
kitchens around the world, he commenced a long
and highly successful association with one of
the world’s most acclaimed hotel chains. From
1987 to 2007 he served as Executive and
Senior Executive Chef with Four Seasons. In
that supervisory and creative capacity he restructured
and refined upscale food and beverage operations
around the world. International postings included
Beverly Hills, Bali, the West Indies, the Maldives
and Cairo.
Under his leadership the Four Seasons Resort
Nevis achieved the first AAA Five Diamond designation
in the Caribbean. Other highlights of Chef Andersson’s
career include: Named as Chef of The Year 2003
by Club Culinaire of French Cuisine (Los Angeles);
Co-wrote the Caribbean cook book
Morgan Freeman & Friends in collaboration
with actor Morgan Freeman; Appearances on various
US TV shows, including
The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View
and
the
Today Show; Featured on Recipe
Food TV; Served with the Four Seasons Task
Force as Executive Chef for the opening of Cairo
Nile Plaza in Cairo and the Westlake Hotel in
California.
Chef Andersson often lends his skills to good
causes, including teaming up with culinary stars
like Eric Rupert, Wolfgang Puck, Michael Ginor
and Todd English in fundraising for Chefs across
America charity drives, supporting the Red Cross
Tsunami Fundraiser for Thailand, and playing
an active role in the National Children’s Kidney
Foundation – Best Chefs of LA Fundraiser. And
in an eight-year collaboration with Barbara
Fairchild, chief editor of Bon Apetit
magazine, he often lent his skills in support
of the Johnson Cancer Foundation.
Today
Conny resides on Langkawi Island, Malaysia,
where he serves as Executive Chef with the exclusive
five-star resort, The Datai, on the shores of
the Andaman Sea.
